Overtime and Take-aways

Towards the end of 2014 we aka the team on the Project (but more than anyone else my work wife Elena, Silleigh and I who are also known as the Penguins*) worked a lot of overtime. Three weeks to be exact – or maybe it was four; I can’t really remember as the lack of sleep made it all a bit of a blur.

It was hard work but we made it and here we are again back at work and it’s 2015 so at least we made it this far.

Back to the case in point; during this time the company paid for us to have dinner each night..

The question at the end of each day was always the same – what are we going to eat?

The first night we blew the budget completely and after that we were limited to a bit of a daily budget – although we didn’t always stick to it.

The list of take out food we ate was as follows:

  • Primi – three times
  • Something Fishy
  • Pizza Perfect – three times
  • Ocean Basket
  • Kauai – twice
  • McDonalds
  • Wimpy
  • Weird Chinese food from Greenstone
  • Steers
  • Spur

We also got muffins and croissants one morning from Fourno’s – I think it was the public holiday – all I remember is that it rained.

Besides all the Red Bull and Monsters we bought ourselves, the boss also bought us a Red Bull and PS bar that said “Thank You” one Saturday afternoon 🙂

One of my friends also came to visit me and brought Woolies Prawn chips, a buddy coke and a can of Pringles.

And one of the project managers Charlene dropped off a selection of sweets, chocolates and cappachino sachets one of the weekends we worked.

And on the final day we all got big bunches of flowers.

But all in all it was a lot of food and not much of it healthy. This would account for the 4kgs I put on in December and which I plan on losing again now that I started running. The first run completed for 2015 was today lol

* we even had a Whatsapp group called the P Penguins – and why Penguins you ask – we collected Penguins from the McDonalds Happy Meal and there were three of them and three of us. Yes ok we were tired.

      That’s a lot of food! I’m sure it will all fall off after a couple of runs though… at least that’s what i’m hoping will happen with all the crap i ate this festive season.

      I remember back when i was working lots of overtime and eating take out ALL THE TIME, all i wanted was a nice home cooked meal. I missed my mom’s cooking!
