Health and Safety Representative Training

On Thursday, Valentines Day, 14th February 2013, I completed the Health and Safety Representative training as presented by the National Occupational Safety & Health Consultancy at the Courtyard Hotel in Eastgate.

The course was presented in the morning and attended by approximately 23 people (unless I counted incorrectly). It started at 9 and was done before 1 with a 15 minute coffee break in-between.

At the end of the presentation we were required to write a test in to qualify for certification. The trainer on site then marked the test and we received our marks straight away. Our certificates were printed out and given to us before we left the venue.

I found the material really interesting and did not get bored or feel distracted during the presentation.

There is a lot to be said about the implementation of the act and its regulations in the work place.

There are a number of things that need to be done from our side to be legally compliant with this act. I will need to review the notes taking into account our industry and make a list of priorities of what needs to be done to present to the rest of the SHEQ committee.
