For Granny…

It was my recently passed granny’s birthday on Saturday 6th November. She would have been 95. I got a reminder on my cellphone for it and it made me instantly sad knowing that we would have been celebrating her birthday with her; my parents, my sister and I.

I browsed through a folder of photos I had collected of granny for her funeral; I added one I had taken of her when she was staying in Durban with my aunt, below 🙂

This is the poem I read out at the funeral:

After Glow

I’d like the memory of me

To be a happy one.

Of smiles when life is done.

I’d like to leave an echo

Whispering softly down the ways,

Of happy times and laughing times

And bright and sunny days

I’d like the tears

Of those who grieve,

To dry before the sun

Of happy memories that I leave

When life is done.

Granny, I miss you but wherever you are, I hope you are happy and free 🙂

Give a hug to grandpa for me and tell him I miss him too…
