Affirmations: Some of my current favourites

Words are powerful. They can build you up or break you down. If you let them. Something as simple as a “Hello” with a smile can make someone’s day. Other words can make you angry or cry or make you feel incredibly embarrassed or uncomfortable.

I know they always say “sticks and stone may break my bones but words will never harm me”. I am not sure about you, but I find words can really hurt – negative, unkind words. Sometimes it is also a lack of words that hurt – for example when people who are supposed to be there for you ignore you.

Positive words can uplift and empower. Positive affirmations (defined as “something that is affirmed; a statement or proposition that is declared to be true”) can help to reinforce new beliefs. Even if you don’t feel it at the time, it can be seen as something you know can be true.

I have started using affirmations on a daily basis as a reminder to be happy and positive and inspired. I can be incredibly negative at times and I need to break that habit by working towards thinking more positively and being more positive about life in general. There is so much to be thankful and grateful for.

My three most important or relevant affirmations or mantras in my life right now are:

  • I am enough. I do enough. I have enough.
  • Living the dream.
  • Everything is awesome.
